FAQ
What kind of commissioned artwork do you accept?
I accept a limited number of commissioned pieces based on availability, subject matter, and whether the project is a good fit for my artistic style. I may consider landscapes, animals, meaningful places, Southwest-inspired scenes, and other select custom ideas.
How do I request a commission?
Please reach out through the Contact page with your idea, preferred size, reference photos, and any important details you would like included. Once I review your request, I will let you know if it is a good fit.
Do I need to send reference photos?
Yes. Clear reference photos are very important and help me create the best possible result. If your photos are blurry, dark, heavily filtered, or too small, they may affect the final artwork.
Can I send more than one reference photo?
Yes. In many cases, multiple reference photos are very helpful, especially if you want me to better understand a subject, location, or detail.
Do you paint from old or damaged photos?
You are welcome to ask. I can review the photo first and let you know whether it is suitable for a commission.
What sizes are available for commissions?
Available sizes may vary depending on the type of artwork and my current schedule. You can include your preferred size in your inquiry, and I will let you know what options are available.
How much does a commission cost?
Pricing depends on the size, complexity, and subject of the piece. Once I review your request, I will provide a quote if the project is a good fit.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before work begins. This deposit secures your commission and reserves your place in my schedule.
Why is the deposit non-refundable?
The deposit covers the time, planning, and preparation involved in beginning a custom piece. Because commissioned artwork is created especially for you, the deposit is non-refundable.
When is the final payment due?
The remaining balance is due once the painting is complete and before shipping or delivery.
How long does a commission take?
Turnaround time depends on the size, level of detail, and my current schedule. I will provide an estimated timeline before work begins.
Can you finish a commission by a certain date?
Possibly. If you have a deadline, please mention it in your inquiry. I will let you know whether your requested timeframe is possible.
Will I see the artwork before it is finished?
Depending on the project, I may provide an update or approval stage before completion. This helps confirm that the piece is moving in the right direction.
Can I request changes during the process?
Minor changes may be possible early in the process, depending on the stage of the painting. Major changes requested after approval or after work has progressed may not be possible and may result in additional fees.
Will the painting look exactly like my photo?
Not exactly. All commissions are created in my personal artistic style. I work carefully from your references and vision, but the final piece will reflect my interpretation as an artist.
Can you recreate a painting I saw somewhere else?
I do not recreate another artist’s copyrighted work. However, you are welcome to share inspiration, and I can let you know whether I can create something original in my own style inspired by the mood or idea.
Are commissions final sale?
Yes. Because each commissioned artwork is made especially for you, all commission sales are final.
Do you offer refunds on commissioned artwork?
No. Due to the custom nature of commissioned work, deposits are non-refundable, and completed commissions are final sale.
Do you offer prints of commissioned artwork?
Unless otherwise discussed, commissioned pieces are sold as original artworks only. If you have a special request regarding prints, you may ask before the project begins.
Who owns the copyright to the artwork?
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, I retain the copyright to the artwork. The purchase of a commissioned original does not include reproduction or commercial usage rights.
Can I use my commissioned artwork for business, branding, or resale?
Not unless commercial or reproduction rights are specifically discussed and agreed to in writing beforehand.
Will my commissioned artwork be signed?
Yes. Original artworks are signed by the artist.
How will my artwork be packaged?
Packaging may vary depending on the size and type of artwork. I take care to package original artwork in a way that helps protect it during handling and shipment.
Do you ship commissions?
Yes, shipping options can be discussed once the commission details are confirmed.
Can I request local pickup instead of shipping?
If local pickup is available, this can be discussed during the commission process.
Can you frame the commission for me?
You are welcome to ask. Framing availability may depend on the size and type of artwork.
How many commissions do you take at a time?
I accept a limited number of commissions in order to give each piece proper time and attention.
