About the Artwork
The artwork of Yusle Art Studios is rooted in atmosphere, place, and an evolving language of symbolism and mystery. Inspired by the landscapes of the U.S. Southwest, my work explores more than scenery alone. I am drawn to the emotional and spiritual presence of land, sky, texture, and hidden meaning.
My earlier work was rooted more directly in miniature Southwest landscapes, open-road imagery, and simple scenes shaped by place and atmosphere. As my practice has evolved, my work has begun to move beyond the visible landscape into a more personal language of symbolism, texture, mystery, and intuitive expression.
My paintings often move between representation and abstraction, blending recognizable elements of landscape with expressive marks, layered surfaces, and a more intuitive visual approach. Through this process, I seek to create artwork that feels both grounded and mysterious, inviting reflection, stillness, and personal interpretation.
I am especially inspired by the beauty of loose and atmospheric watercolor, the organic movement of granulating pigments, and the emotional depth that texture can bring to a surface. My work is also shaped by an interest in symbolism, sigil-inspired visual language, and artwork created with intention, reverence, and a sense of blessing. These influences come together in pieces that are atmospheric, semi-abstract, and deeply personal.
My earlier miniature watercolor paintings were created on 140-pound Arches Cold Press paper using professional Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith pigments. As my artistic practice continues to evolve, I have become increasingly drawn to granulation, texture, and the expressive possibilities they bring to the surface. Newer works may reflect this growing direction through a broader range of professional materials, including selected Daniel Smith PrimaTek colors, Russian White Nights granulation palettes, Schmincke supergranulation sets, and artist-grade papers such as Arches, Saunders Waterford, Fabriano 5, Canson Moulin du Roy, and other carefully chosen surfaces. Because materials are an important part of the character of each painting, specific paper and pigment details are always included in the individual artwork description.
All miniature art and other selected works are sealed with Jacquard Dorland’s Wax to help protect the surface and enhance their presentation. Most miniature artworks are also professionally backed and matted for display, making them ready to frame at a total size of 5 x 7 inches, unless otherwise noted. The backing board includes a completion date alongside an authenticity logo as a final detail of presentation and provenance.
The artist signs each original painting and, unless otherwise stated, it is offered as a one-of-a-kind original artwork. No prints are available for those pieces.
Each artwork purchase also includes a special card sharing the story behind the individual painting and aspects of the creative process involved in bringing it to life. For selected artworks that include symbolic or blessing elements, as noted in the description, collectors may also receive an additional guide explaining the symbol and how to care for or work with that aspect of the piece. Not all artworks include symbolic elements, and when present, those details will always be clearly noted in the individual artwork description.
Whether working in miniature or exploring a more textural and intuitive surface, I create each piece with care and intention. I hope that these artworks offer more than an image alone. I hope they bring atmosphere, meaning, and a quiet sense of wonder into the spaces they enter.
